As product managers, we constantly seek to infuse our teams with agility and resilience. Here are five practices that will sharpen your team’s agility and sprinkle a dash of humor and inspiration along the journey.

Embrace Small Batches

Think of work like gourmet food — small, exquisite batches tailored to perfection. By breaking down tasks into bite-sized pieces, teams can digest their work more efficiently, reducing the time from start to finish and allowing for swift, satisfying deliverables. This keeps the momentum high and makes the process more palatable.

Prioritize Work Queues

Just as a good laugh can re-energize a room, a well-prioritized work queue can rejuvenate a team’s workflow. Ensure that your team knows what’s on the menu next, allowing them to focus on delivering quality work without the indigestion of overloading.

Keep Queues Short

Long queues? Not in our agile restaurant! We serve up tasks fast and fresh. Keeping the work queues short means less waiting, more doing, and a zesty zest for the agile process that keeps the team’s spirits high.

Optimize with Kanban

Kanban is the secret sauce of agile management. It lets teams track their work visually and keep their capacity in a sweet spot. It’s about serving up just the right amount of work and avoiding the stomachache of overcommitment.

Use Kanban for project phases: visualize workflow, set WIP limits, and manage flow.

Champion System-Level Efficiency

In agile, we champion the symphony over the solo. Encourage your team to think big picture, where system-level efficiency creates a harmony that resonates with success, like the perfect chorus in your favorite song.
